Chapter 2932 Split My Poor Little Pussy:>94
- The meeting broke up and many of the men couldn't help taking a last look at Aislinn. Rhea was waiting outside in the hall. She followed us to our next meeting. That is how the entire day went. Aislinn was excited about her first day at the Pentagon but I had to admit it had finally become routine for me. My evening schedule included a meal at the White House. The President was celebrating the Cold Fusion Concord. It was an international agreement to shift from fission plants to fusion over the next twenty years. The legislation would also allow the elimination of the last coal burning facilities left overseas. Fossil fuels had already been phased out during the last administration's first term in office. I had just enough time to get home, change into my tuxedo, and reach the White House. Aislinn would stay home and work on notes for the meetings she had attended today. I would look them over when I got back.
- I was nervous about the dinner at the White House. There would be plenty of news agencies present to cover whether the President would continue to fund NASA after the loss of Project Ares. Would there be cut backs or would the budget remain unchanged. They were equally interested in speaking with Nick Shaw about the money he lost since he funded Ares for a huge chunk of change. They had no idea the success that the reimagined Solaris had become. We had landed a craft on an alien asteroid. We were taking tons of footage from within the confines of another solar system. Every data pack returned to earth was a treasure of scientific data. We were rewriting star charts since we now had a whole new perspective.
- I strode into the ball room with Rhea on my arm. She doubled as my plus one and my bodyguard. There were plenty of secret service agents around us but the recent death threats had spurred Rhea to be more aggressive in her duties. We worked the room and I found an interesting mix of politicians that were aware of Solaris and those that weren't. I had to apologize to one person and a few minutes later I was being congratulated by other members of the same political party. Security clearance was everything when it came to world shaping events. I felt the inevitable countdown when we were going to have to share what we had found.
